[newsletter rcvd 03-Jun-1999] June 1999 Hello! Please join us as we celebrate our 16th Annual Open Winery - an opportunity to sample this years new releases with bread and fine cheese as accompaniments. As usual we will be here daily from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday June 26th through Sunday July 12th. We're excited about some changes we've made this year and we're anxious to share them with you. Our tasting area is now upstairs, giving us a warm and comfortable space with access to the deck on sunny days. The new tasting room also allows us the opportunity to have local artists and writers display some of their talents. Several past and present 'Poesia Series' writers will have some of their works available. We've re- designed the label for our 1997 wines, and some of these wines have been winning awards in national and international competitions. We've also added some new equipment. Our many friends who have helped with the bottling in the past may want to see our new bottle filler. Yes, we still do it by hand, but we gave this machine a kiss the first time we used it. Come say hello, take a look at our changes, and try this years wines. We look forward to seeing you! 1997 Lost Mountain Red - We have returned to making this blend with the Zinfandel grapes that make it so delicious and we think it is exceptional this year. The judges do too. We received a Bronze Medal for this wine in the recent 9th Annual Grand Harvest Awards in Santa Rosa, CA. $15.00 1997 Columbia Valley Merlot - Our Merlot is back! Rich and smooth with great berry flavors, this year's vintage has already won a Silver Medal at The Grand Harvest Awards, and a Bronze Medal at the Taster's Guild International Wine Judging. $18.00 1997 Romeo's Blend - The robust cousin of our original Lost Mountain Red. This hearty Italian-style blend continues to be a favorite. Produced for many years as Pipa's Blend we have graced it's new label with an image of Romeo and renamed it in a tribute to him and his many fine Lost Mountain vintages. $14.00 1996 Poesia - Our poetry series continues with T'ang Dynasty poet Han-shan's "Song From Cold Mountain". Translated by Port Townsend writer Red Pine, and teamed with Rebecca Wilde's elegant calligraphy, this Cabernet-Merlot blend is always popular. $18.00 1997 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir - This delicately balanced wine has delightful spicy cranberry and cherry flavors. It is excellent with lighter fare and spectacular with grilled Pacific Northwest Salmon. $15.00 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon - Pure cabernet grapes at their best. This rich and flavorful wine is superb with grilled meats and heavier fare. $16.00/bottle We also have limited quantities of some 1995 and 1996 vintages available in our library of older wines. For those who are sensitive please note that we do not add sulfites to our wines. Some sulfites do occur naturally, just ask if you need more specific details. We hope to see you here on Lost Mountain. We will also be open Thursdays through Sundays from 11-5 through Labor Day, or other times by arrangement. Remember that straight or mixed cases receive a 10% discount. We now accept Visa and Master Card and we will be happy to reserve wine for you with your credit card phone order or check. We can ship within Washington and to other states as allowed by law. Call us at 360.683.5229 or email us at wine@lostmountain.com for current details. Salute'!
