Hinzerling Winery and The Vintner's Inn
Post Harvest NEWS
Dear Friends of Hinzerling,
Thanksgiving in Wine Country- will be Friday and Saturday Nov. 29-30, and Sunday Dec. 1. Here are your options for that weekend- as I see them:
1  Watch reruns of It's a Wonderful Life, and Miracle on 34th Street
    2.  Spend some real quality time with those visiting in-laws.
    3.  Watch football, golf, or, for really avid (rhymes with rabid) sports fans- soccer!
4,  Check one ( ) Start ( ) Finish ( ) Forget about it: putting up the Christmas lights
    5.  Jump in your rig and visit Hinzerling Winery for some great wine tasting, food samples, recipes, and holiday specials. We'll be handing out samples of all kinds of things including a great new chocolate from Italy, a tasty salad featuring our Port and balsamic vinegar, Chukar Cherries- all absolutely free. One caveat however: I axed my crew whether they wanted to spend the weekend filling glasses or washing glasses- The result? This is one of those weekends when we do not have glasses available for tasting, so bring your own or, buy one at here for a modest price.

Harvest 2002- For those of you that attended our harvest party and picked Gewürztraminer for Die Sonne, that wine is in the fermentor and perking away slowly but surely- lots of spice flavor with maybe a touch of acetic quality that should diminish as the yeasts do their magic. - Watch this space

New Releases, Holiday Packages and Specials

Rainy Day Fine Tawny Port from the oldest tier of the three-tier solera I started 20 years ago. This is the ultimate in a rich dessert and appetizer wine. A rich tawny hue from years of barrel aging, a distinct nuttiness with overtones of caramel, hazelnuts, and cloves, this wine is ready to drink now. Pour a small glass, toss a log on the fire, grab a good book, maybe a hunk of sharp cheddar or a blue cheese and some walnuts- it doesn't get any better. This wine will be available by about 11/15. Most of it is already allotted to previous purchasers, as we can only bottle a little more than 500 bottles. However, if this wine is of interest to you, please call or e-mail me and I will add your name to the list and if some is available, contact you to make arrangements to get you some. If you live near one of the areas listed at the end of this newsletter, you can meet me to pick some up- $34.99/750ml
