Lamburger/Lemberger- My wife, Frankie's cousin, Don Mercer of the famous, but now extinct, Mercer Ranch Vineyard started this event years ago. The Mercers were sheep people when they came here in the late 1800's and so to Don this seemed a logical idea- and it was. We thought it time to reinstitute this great event so, On Saturday August 3, beginning at 5:30 p.m., along with some hors d' oeuvres you'll meet and taste with most of winery's state that produce Lemberger. After this, we'll throw some Lamburger on the grill and proceed with a mouth-watering BBQ with traditional picnic fare. Your admission to this event will also include a charter membership in the Lemberger Society. Serous Sippers Summer Sale- re-released wines for your consideration: 1999 Semillon- I'm going to confess that I make Semillon for myself. I really like this variety. A rich aroma of melons, peaches, and spice backed up by a crisp acidity, this variety is a real sleeper in terms of press space and consumer recognition- it goes great with many seafoods-especially mussels and grilled salmon- and did you know this baby will age well too? Regular $9.99 sale $8.99 Silver Anniversary Red- last year we decided to pull some old bottles from our library and after tasting, some more tasting, some trial blending, and much thought, came up with this exceedingly full bodied, rich, and complex- not to mention tasty red wine blend of Cabernets and Merlots from the 70's, 80's, and 90's. We only made 16 cases of this wine and when it's gone, it's gone- I personally guarantee that this wine will be one of the most delicious Washington red wines you will ever taste. Regular $35.99 Sale $30.99 1983 Cabernet- in honor of our 26th we're releasing a little more of this great year at a real bargain price - full of blackberries, coffee, vanilla, and licorice, this wine demands heavy duty red meat-my personal preference is lamb, but you could go with beef or buffalo. Still a bright purple with a nice tart background, I defy you: to bring me a Washington red that's this old and has as much guts this gem of a wine. If you can, I'll give you a free empty case.
