History:
The Harley Hake Winery on Maury Island (south tip of Vashon Island) opened after prohibition and closed in the 1940's.

Local rumour has it that apparently Harley enjoyed imbibing on his own product and was notorious for driving while drunk on the island. He eventually amassed lots of DUI's (remember, this was in the 50's when a DUI wasn't considered all that bad), and left for Mexico.

The original house used to be a "shack" according to the King county assesers office back in 1947. It is still standing (1999) and is very stable. The winery building did not fare as well, with a cracked foundation and the building now leans to one side.
