Nov-96 The Rinehold Cannery Homestead is a Bed and Breakfast Inn established in 1985. The Homestead offers overnight lodging and a continental breakfast. Floyd Rinehold, who built the house in the early 1900's had been a resident of the Lower Valley since his teens, and he married Miss Emma Eaton, daughter of the George P. Eatons. Mr. Rinehold built homes and commercial buildings in the vicinity, including the large building adjacent to the homestead, where for several decades local produce was processed and canned under the 'Yakima Farmer' label. The immediate family formed the nucleus of the cannery operation. The cannery building, now being restored, will be home of the Eaton Hill Winery. Visitors will be able to view restoration projects on both the house and the winery. Local wineries and restaurants, the Yakima Nation Cultural Center, county and state fairs, the Granger Cherry Festival, rodeos and horse shows, hunting and fishing are a few of the attractions visitors will enjoy. Current information on local and state events will be available to Homestead guests. The Rinehold Cannery Homestead is located on Gurley Road, just North of Granger on Highway 12, one half mile East of the Punkin Center intersection. Those with business in the Yakima Valley will find the Homestead a welcome place to stop over. The present owners of the Homestead and the Cannery have every wish to preserve and honor the accomplishments of the Floyd Rineholds. The Granger Library has published a book on Granger's history and has copies available. Lodging reservations may be made with the managers of the Homestead, Gary and Arlene Rogers at 509-854-2508.
